Basic recording techniques

The first 6 lessons is about recording acoustical instruments in the studio.
The lessons will lead up to a composition or arrangement of minimum 4 tracks, properly paned and with added artificial reverb. The composition/arrangement is to be delivered on a Audio CD and will be played Lesson 7.

-Record a well known melody (or a melody of your own), played by an acoustic instrument and played by an other person than you.

The performance has to use a fixed metrical pulse/metronome (click track).

We will also have a look at basic sampler programming.
At the end of this block,
Spring semester week 3, 27.1 you will present a small composition using mainly VST synthesizers and VSL libraray.

Find ONE interesting recording you already have done. Make a Kontakt Instrument with it.

If you don’t have an interesting recording, make one!
Use the different sampler modes (DFD, Time Machine...) and the Legato mode, and make a small interesting performance.

Basic sound processing for live use.

In the next  lesson we will work with some of the tools used in the analog days, basic sound processing. We will do this in the digital domain. You will build a simple live effect possessor for use together with an acoustic instrument.
